Jakarta, April 22, 2026 — To provide students with broader insight and a deeper understanding of the evolution of the legal profession amidst rapid digital transformation, the Notarial Law Study Program at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pancasila, held an online public lecture via Zoom titled “Obstacles and Challenges for Notaries and Land Deed Officials (PPAT) in Carrying Out Their Duties in the Digital Era.”

The public lecture featured three speakers: Dr. Baroto, S.H., M.H., Head of the Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights; Dr. KRA. MJ. Widijatmoko, S.H., Sp.N., a practicing Notary and Land Deed Official (PPAT); and Dr. Taufik, S.H., Sp.N., M.Kn., also a practicing Notary and Land Deed Official (PPAT). The event was attended by students of the Notarial Law Study Program, as well as members of the academic community with an interest in the development of the Notary and Land Deed Official (PPAT) profession in the digital age.

During their presentations, the speakers discussed various technological advancements that influence how Notaries and Land Deed Officials (PPAT) perform their duties and exercise their authority. While digitalization offers greater convenience in administrative processes and service delivery, it simultaneously presents a number of obstacles and challenges that legal practitioners must understand.

Students gained insight into the importance of being able to adapt to technological advancements—while remaining mindful of the principles of prudence, professionalism, and the legal regulations that govern the roles of a Notary and a Land Deed Official (PPAT). The shift toward a digital system also requires professionals to continuously enhance their competencies and understand the various risks that may arise in the execution of their duties.

Through this session, students are expected not only to grasp the theoretical aspects covered in their coursework but also to gain a clearer picture of the real-world conditions and challenges faced by Notaries and PPATs in practice. The experiences and insights shared by practitioners serve as an additional resource for students as they prepare to enter the professional world.

The public lecture was conducted interactively via Zoom. Participants had the opportunity to follow the presentation and gain practical insights into the evolution of the Notary and PPAT professions in the digital era.

This activity is intended to serve as a valuable learning experience for students, deepening their understanding of the dynamics within the legal profession—particularly regarding how to navigate technological developments and the evolving demands for professionalism in the future.
